Located in the southern part of the United States, Virginia has a culture that is profoundly enriched in the colonial era although the culture has blended modernistic features and with the rich history the state has to offer. Regarding the economy on an overall basis, the areas that are the driving factors include that of governmental affairs, military, farming, and various business ventures. Additionally, the healthcare industry place for all in the economy as there are approximated 100 major hospitals throughout the entire state. As a result, the healthcare industry is always in search of additional help from nurses and other healthcare professionals throughout the state. Because the specific jobs on such a high demand it can be expected that the cost of living as it pertains to a nurse’s salary would be comfortable as well as affordable.

When it comes to the number of colleges and universities throughout the entire state of Virginia, there are nearly 200 to choose from. Although not every single college will be discussed or mentioned in this portion, a few noteworthy colleges that are quite common include the University of Virginia, the College of William & Mary, James Madison University, and several others. All schools (both mentioned and not mentioned) have full accreditation and offers traditional degree programs at the associate, master, bachelor, Ph.D., and doctoral levels. Additionally, aside from receiving financial aid, there are a wide variety of varying scholarships that students can apply for. As it pertains to the wide selection of nursing degree programs many programs will include hands-on learning.

In addition to taking a required state test in order to obtain a nursing license the state of Virginia also requires a federal background check for all nurses seeking employment. It is believed that by the year 2022 LPN and RN positions will increase by approximate 30% with an approximated salary of about 70,000 per year. Regarding potential employment locations, many of the nurses who have graduated can apply at places that include the Central Virginia Training Center, Inova Fairfax Hospital, the CW Medical Center as well as several other healthcare facilities that include doctors offices and urgent care centers.
