List of Accredited Nursing Schools in West Virginia

Including Private and Public Ones

Considered to be one of the poorest states of the states combined West Virginia has an approximated population of a little under 2 million people, however, the overall outlook for the state appears to be bleak as several health-related concerns have caused the death rate to be higher than the birthrate. That said, the state’s economy is heavily driven by the mining industry (coal), tourism, and green energy resources. Because the healthcare situation is in such dire straits nursing professionals are in high demand and can expect to lead and affordable lifestyle while working in the desired field of choice all the while benefiting others through the help they provide.

Nursing Education in West Virginia

Aside from West Virginia State University and West Virginia University (the most common schools in the state of West Virginia), all schools are fully created and offer students the option to apply for scholarships. Additionally, multiple degree programs at various levels including Associates, Masters, bachelor’s, PC, and doctoral educational levels are all provided. As it pertains to the realm of the nursing profession students will learn a wide variety of different curriculum based on the degree program while getting a hands-on approach to what it takes to become a nurse. The state of West Virginia also has many other colleges and universities that include Marshall University, the University of Charleston, and many others.

Once a nursing student has graduated from the program of choice the state of West Virginia provides a license for all students who have completed and passed the required state test, have enough clinical hours logged, and of course, passed all required classes and other criteria. Overall, it is believed that available jobs will increase by a whopping 25% before the year 2022; this is especially true of LPN and RN positions. Additionally, a nurses salary are based solely on the level of education they have obtained as well as their skill level and experience. For example, all entry-level nurses with the basic education would receive the minimum average salary.
