With an estimated population of around 6 million people, the state of Wisconsin is home to the NFL’s Green Bay Packers as well as the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA and the Milwaukee Brewers of MLB. Economically speaking, three industries considered to be the driving forces are manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare. As a result, aspiring and returning nurses seeking employment are believed to have plenty of job opportunities as the healthcare industry remains fully operational and continues to gain momentum. Also, there are plenty of nursing schools in Wisconsin to choose from for aspiring nurses and those looking to specialize.

Nursing Education in Wisconsin

Regarding education, the state of Wisconsin has much to offer. Fully equipped with several colleges and universities, students are provided the opportunity to continue their education with a wide variety of degree programs to choose from. Much like the way any other college or university, most degree programs are offered at various levels consisting of Associate's, Bachelors's, Masters's, Ph.D., and doctoral degrees.

Any nurse who has earned their degree from colleges such as Marquette University, Lakeland College, Edgewood College, or any of the other schools offered by the state, is believed to be in solid shape when it comes to job prospects. LPN and RN positions, in particular, are projected to increase by an approximate percent before 2030 comes to call. Although it is required by state law to pass the state-issued test and receive official licensing from the appropriate channels nurses will have the opportunity to work for major hospitals such as St. Joseph’s Hospital as well as the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.

Bellin College of Nursing

Founded in 1909, Bellin College is private, not-for-profit institution, specializing in nursing and medical imaging. Its nursing education programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Bachelor’s students at Bellin benefit from the extensive clinical experience, the opportunity to learn multiple specialties, and a curricular emphasis on leadership. Nursing courses begin in the first semester of enrollment and are taken concurrently with Bellin College general education courses. Transfer students with general education credits completed elsewhere, complete two freshman nursing courses online in the summer and then join either the sophomore or junior class in the fall. A two-year online RN to BSN bridge may also be of interest to qualified candidates.

For qualified BSNs, two master’s tracks are available. The Family Nurse Practitioner track is available on both a full and part-time basis in a blended format while the Nurse Educator track is fully online.
